Focus on customer service earns recognition for Centerville Ace Hardware

CENTERVILLE - Centerville’s two Colonial Ace Hardware stores were recently recognized for achieving the designation of “Platinum Performance Retailing” stores.

“It really is about customer service,” said Scott Penman, manager of the store at 380 E. Pages Lane. “The people that really earned it are the employees.”

With Penman at the presentation were, Ross Smedley, an associate; Frank Carroll, vice president over merchandise for Ace; Chad Penman, manager of the original Colonial Ace Hardware at 530 N. 400 West; Fred Hales, owner of the two stores, and John Surane, executive vice president of marketing, merchandising and sales for Ace Hardeware Corporation. 

The award, which was presented July 16, recognizes stores that focus on customer service through training and working to enhance overall customer experience.

“It is a truly commendable accomplishment for an Ace store to achieve Platinum Performance Retailing status,” said Surane. The 400 West store has been in operation for about 30 years, said Scott Penman. The Pages Lane store opened about a year ago.
