FARMINGTON – A former Air Force staff sergeant will serve six months in jail for downloading child pornography.

Matthew Kris Harrelson, 36, will serve his sentence in the Davis County Jail. Second District Judge Robert Dale gave him credit for five days he has already served.

Harrelson pleaded guilty in September to two counts of second-degree felony sexual exploitation of a minor. He was originally charged with 10 counts.

Dale suspended a sentence of  one to 15 years in the Utah State Prison to be served concurrently. He also ordered Harrelson to serve three years probation once he is released from jail.

Harrelson may not have any access to the Internet or any contact with children under 18 years of age, the judge ruled.

Harrelson was released from the Air Force as a result of the guilty pleas.

He was arrested following an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in October, 2012.
