WOODS CROSS –  The last thing someone wants to deal with is buying new tires.

And they don’t appreciate paying what they think is too much for them.

That’s among the reasons Tire Factory is now the   name on the sign outside of stores at 1398 S. 500 West in Woods Cross and 400 W. 500 South in Bountiful.

“We get the customer the best deal we can,” said Casey Gubler, who manages the Woods Cross store.

He cited the Tire Factory motto, “Always the right time, always the right price,” and said the two shops are now able to offer customers lower prices on tires and related services.

“This gives us more freedom,” Gubler said. “We’re not having some corporation tell us how to run our business. In addition, our franchise fees are lower.”

For example, the Woods Cross store recently installed a new alignment rack. Come spring, the store will get a paint job and other sprucing up, Gubler said.

He said 17 Big O franchised-stores switched to Tire Factory last year and that number is projected to reach 20 this year.

Gubler’s dad, Ken, owns the two stores and visits each day. The family has been involved in the tire store for about 30 years.

Chris Hopkinson is a familiar face to regular customers. He he worked sales and service at the Woods Cross location since it opened in 1996.

“I grew up in it,” he said of being surrounded by cars and trucks and how they work, adding, “I’ve always liked it.”
