WEST POINT— The family of the two boys who were stabbed to death last week has set their funeral for Monday, June 3.

The boys were only in the world briefly, but, “they both touched the lives of many, and will be missed greatly,” according to their obituary, published today, May 31.

Both boys were adopted into the Vidinhar family of West Point. Benjie, 4, was quiet in public but enjoyed singing and dancing, and especially the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, according to the obituary. Alex, 10, loved singing, riding his bike and running.

Services will be held at Washington Heights Church, 1770 E. 6200, South Ogden, at 11 a.m. Send donations to the Vidinhar Family charitable account at America First Credit Union, or send condolences to the family at lindquistmortuary.com.

Meanwhile, their 15-year-old brother Aza remains in custody but has yet to be charged.

“We expect to make charging decisions as soon as evidence necessary to do so has been submitted to our office and has been thoroughly reviewed and assessed,” said County Attorney Troy Rawlings in a press release on Friday. “To date, while preliminary matters have been discussed and initial information has been provided by law enforcement, the formal submission of evidence required to screen this case has not happened because the investigation is not complete.”

The 15-year-old boy will remain in custody, but Rawlings took care to note that he is presumed innocent under the law.

“That presumption remains unless and until sufficient evidence to overcome the presumption becomes available,” he said. “To date, evidence necessary to make this determination is not available to our office.”

The Washington Heights Church declined to comment on the matter.

The brothers’ mother arrived home from running errands on May 22 to find Benjie dead of stab wounds. When police arrived to help find the older brother and Alex, they found the 10-year-old’s body, which had also been stabbed to death, according to preliminary reports from police.
