NORTH SALT LAKE - Geri Gibbs was named a Foundation Fellow at the 2014 Music Teachers National Association National Conference in Chicago last month.

The North Salt Lake resident has been a music teacher for more than 48 years, according to a release, and is a nationally certified teacher of music.

In her involvement with MTNA, Gibbs has served as the Utah MTA state president, Southwest Division competition chair, MTNA Director and Independent Music Teacher Forum chair.

A mother of four and grandmother to 15, she has also served on a number of association committees, all while maintaining a large piano studio.

The association, established in 1876, is focused on "furthering the art of music through teaching, performance, composition and scholarly research," according to the release.
