1917-2012
Harriet Fredonia Wilkinson Brunson as born April 8, 1917 in Porterville, CA to Harry Wilkinson and Bertha Bell McDonald Wilkinson. She passed away at the age of 95 on October 6, 2012 in Centerville. She graduated from Porterville Union High School and attended Porterville Junior College. She married Frank Gilbert Brunson on August 17, 1940 in Las Vegas, NV and they made their home in Porterville and raised three children. Her family always took center stage in her life. After raising her children she worked as a psychiatric technician in several California state hospitals. She retired after supporting her sons through college. After retirement she returned to the art department at Porterville Community College and took just about every class offered. She especially enjoyed watercolor painting and won several awards at local art shows. She greatly admired the style of Georgia O’Keefe, and her children treasure her paintings of large-scale flowers. She also enjoyed embroidery and continued stitching into her 90’s. She and dad always had great vegetable gardens and beautiful flowers, especially irises and calla lilies, and grew a large variety of fruit trees.She enjoyed the outdoors and fishing with dad and her children. She was always a peacemaker and was known for her sweet disposition and she expressed warm thanks for any service she received. She was thrilled to be baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on her 90th birthday and enjoyed her association with other members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Nedra Conklin; brother, Tom Wilkinson; husband, Frank; and daughter,Judith I. Williamson. She is survived by sons, Richard L. Brunson (Nancy), Rio Rancho,NM; Frank Gilbert Brunson Jr. (Evelyn), Farmington; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family is very appreciative of the excellent care she received at Beehive Homes in Centerville and from Hospice for Utah. Graveside services will be held at the Duncan-McDonald Family Cemetery near Springville, CA.
