DAVIS COUNTY -- The Woods Cross Wildcats opened their 2004-05 season with a huge win over Layton on the road.The Wildcats led 30-23 at the half, and held on in the fourth quarter to get the win.

Bryson Riddle led Woods Cross with 26 points, while Wyatt Bubak led the Lancers with 15.

Girls basketball

Layton 67, Box Elder 16: The Layton girls basketball team showed just why they are the favorites in 5A by beating Box Elder 67-16.

Layton led 14-3 at the end of the first quarter and held the Bees to just two points in the third quarter.

Jessica Carver led the Lancers with 14 points, while Katie King added 10.

Alta 40, Northridge 30: Northridge scored just four points in the first quarter and one in the third as they were taken down by the Hawks.

The Knights made it more respectable in the fourth quarter, outscoring Alta 14-8.
