WOODS CROSS – Local high school teams are lining up to take the field as early as Tuesday afternoon, getting a start on what promises to be a hot prep sports season.
In south Davis County, four local schools will kick off at least one sport next week. A soccer match between two local schools kick-starts the action. On Tuesday, Aug. 13, the Davis High School girls’ soccer team will start the season off against Woods Cross at Woods Cross High School. The game will be played under the lights, as kick off was recently changed from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Thursday, 5A defending champion Viewmont travels to 4A semi-finalist Woods Cross. Bountiful, a 4A finalist last season, will go to Angel Park to take on Davis on its home turf.
The first set of football games will begin next Friday, Aug. 23, a full week later than last season. The volleyball season for most Davis County schools will not begin until the third or fourth week of August.
