FARMINGTON — A man fell while hiking Sunday and had to be rescued by medical helicopter.

The man and a woman were hiking the Davis Creek Trail about noon when the man slipped and fell about 50 feet, landing in a creek bed, according to the Davis County Sheriff’s Office. He had reportedly broken his leg.

The woman hiked down and called for help at about 2 p.m. Because of the steep terrain, a rescue helicopter had to hoist the man out at about 4 p.m. He is in his late 30s, officers said, and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
