WEST BOUNTIFUL — Clean up following the HollyFrontier oil spray on Aug. 30 is nearly complete, although the company is still receiving a few claims from residents and business in south Davis County.
HollyFrontier Engineering Manager Conrad Jenson told the Clipper the company received approximately 405 claims, totaling about $500,000. There are approximately 24 claims still outstanding and the company may still receive a few more claims.
He gave a report to the West Bountiful City Council Tuesday night.
Refinery crews and three remediation companies handled the initial clean-up claims, Jenson said .
“It grew from there to include car washes, mobile detail services, auto body shops and even landscaping companies,” Jenson said.
“We’re not aware of any permanent damage caused by the oil spray,” Jenson said. He added that the company appreciates the patience neighboring residents and businesses have had with the clean-up.
The accident was caused by over-pressurization that split the tank’s cover, releasing fuel. Jenson said crews still haven’t gotten into the tank to finish repairs there.
