DAVIS COUNTY — Students from countries in Europe, Mexico, Korea, Brazil and China are among those hoping for an opportunity to live and study for an academic year in America.

Pacific Intercultural Exchange is seeking host families for these students, who will be matched with families according to common interests and lifestyles.

All students are between 15 and 18 years old, according to a release. They are English-speaking and have their own spending money and insurance. Host families are eligible to claim a monthly charitable contribution deduction on their itemized tax returns for sponsoring the students.

More than 25,000 students have been placed by the organization since its founding in 1975. PIE president John Doty said students are anxious to share their cultural experiences with their new American families.

T

hose interested in hosting a student or in volunteering to help with area host families can contact PIE at 1-866-546-1402. The exchange also has travel opportunities and study-abroad programs available for American high school students.
