Thankfully, Paul Maloy has some tips designed to make both sides of the process easier. A teacher at Legacy Preparatory Academy in Woods Cross, he’ll share humor and life lessons in “An Evening With Mr. Maloy,” a free presentation set for April 11 at 7 p.m. at West Bountiful City Hall.
“Think of it as a cross between Bill Cosby, Ira Glass and Stephen Covey,” said Maloy, referring to the well-known comedian, the host of “This American Life” and the author of “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.”
Maloy, who currently teaches 7th and 8th grade history at Legacy, originally spent 20 years in online marketing with companies such as Microsoft, Intuit and Novell. In 2004, he left the field to begin teaching.
“What was I thinking?” said Maloy with a laugh.
Years later, he doesn’t regret the move.
“In the end, we’re all master teachers,” he said.
In his presentation, he said that he tries to help audience members discover what they’re teaching others, what they’re influence is on the people in their lives and how everyone can create a better, more positive effect on the world around them.
“I want to explore the curious quirks in our humanity, how we learn, and discover how we can all make a greater contribution to our families and communities.”
