FARMINGTON—The public is invited to weigh in on the calendar for the 2017-18 school year now under consideration by the Davis School District Board of Education.

As it now stands, school would begin on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017 and end on Friday, June 1, 2018 and is similar to the calendar used in the 2006-07 school year.

“Due to public input, this calendar starts a bit later and includes shorter breaks,” reads the district website. “By law, the district has to provide students 180 days and 990 hours of instruction.”

Students would get two days off in the fall, Oct. 19 and 20, and three days off for Thanksgiving, Nov. 22 to 24. Winter break would run from Dec. 21 to Jan. 2, and spring break from April 2 to 6.

Those on the year-round schedule would have tracks beginning Tuesday, July 25, 2017 and running through Friday, June 29, 2018.

Comments on the proposal will be accepted through Dec. 5, and can be made by following links to the survey at the district’s website: davis.k12.ut.us.
