CLEARFIELD — A group of students from Clearfield High worked to defend imaginary virtual networks and mobile devices from a professional aggressor team, in this year’s Cyber Patriot VI National Finals Competition.
The national contest pitted the six-member team against 26 other high schools and two middle schools. The Clearfield team won first place, and are the All Service Division National Champions.
For their win, team members received a $2,000 scholarship from Northrop Grumman, according to information provided by Davis School District.
“These scholarships are making the field of cybersecurity more accessible than ever before, providing opportunities to a broader range of students and thus increasing this critical talent pool,” said Diane Miller, Northrop Grumman program director for CyberPatriot, in the release.
Team members are Air Force JROTC students John Maxfield, Kincaid Savoie, Shay Perkins, Nate Betoldie, Drex Beckman and Zach Sharkey.
