FARMINGTON - A 50-year-old jogger fell 40 feet off the Glover Lane overpass onto the southbound on-ramp of I-15 from 200 West in Farmington. The incident happened Monday morning after he attempted to clear a gap between the sidewalk and road.

The accident happened about 5:20 a.m., according to Farmington Police Chief Wayne Hansen.

Police say the man’s wife told them he jogs the route everyday. The man apparently decided he did not want to be on the road anymore, so he tried to jump over the barrier, according to Hansen.

“He apparently was thinking there was a ledge there,” the chief said.

The man broke numerous bones and suffered head injuries, but was able to roll to the side of the road and call police.

There was some traffic on the road at the time, but the man managed to avoid being struck by any vehicles, Hansen said.

Hansen said the man was taken to a hospital by helicopter, but that his condition was unknown.

Police did not release the man’s name. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
