BOUNTIFUL — The Viewmont Lady Vikings’ softball team ended its season on a high note by sharing the Region 2 title.

Tuesday afternoon against Lehi, they proved they will be a force to be reckoned with as they scored 12 runs to crush the Lady Pioneers 12-2 in six innings to open the state 5A softball playoffs.

The Lady Vikings quickly jumped to a three-run lead after scoring three first-inning runs for the only runs they really needed in the entire game. However, they extended their lead to six runs after scoring three more to make the score 6-0 after three innings.

With Lehi able to slightly cut into the deficit by scoring two runs in the top of the fourth, Viewmont responded by scoring four more runs in the bottom of the inning, then scored two more times in the bottom of the sixth to end the game on the mercy rule.
