BOUNTIFUL – The Viewmont Lady Vikings girls’ basketball team leapfrogged Davis for third place in Region 1 after dominating Northridge 53-28 last Friday.
Davis took a tough loss to Fremont, 45-40, to fall to fourth place with a few weeks remaining in the regular season.
In Region 6, the Bountiful Lady Braves lost its first region game after falling to Judge Memorial, 58-42.
Woods Cross picked up an important win over Clearfield, 48-42, to remain in the playoff hunt.
Viewmont dominates Northridge on the road, 53-28
After a pedestrian first quarter that saw 12 combined points between Viewmont and Northridge, the Lady Vikings exploded for 16 second quarter points in last Friday’s game.
The result, a 53-28 win that saw the Lady Vikings’ defense hold Northridge to 15 points in the first three quarters combined.
Caitlyn Larsen and Katie Toole were a dominant duo for Viewmont. Both scored 19 points a piece, and Larsen added 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double.
Lady Darts slip to fourth place after 45-40 loss to Fremont
The Davis Lady Darts had an opportunity to stay in a tie for third place in Region 1 if they could beat the Lady Silver Wolves at home last Friday.
In a close contest throughout, the Silver Wolves ended up taking the win, 45-40, and bumped the Lady Darts down to the No. 4 seed in Region 1.
McKenzie Day of Davis had a game-high 14 points in the loss. Kayley Neilson and Britney Braithwaite each scored six points for the Lady Darts.
Lady Braves suffer first region loss to Judge Memorial, 58-42
Bountiful’s Kennedy Redding had a game to remember against Judge Memorial last Friday, scoring 34 of her team’s 42 points.
It wasn’t enough to take down Judge Memorial; however, as Bountiful fell to a tie for the Region 6 lead after the Bulldogs 58-42 win.
Redding was the only player to score more than three points in the game against the Bulldogs, who out-scored Bountiful 23-10 in the first quarter en route to the win.
Woods Cross gets important win over Clearfield, 48-42
Aubree Riddle of Woods Cross scored 15 points last Friday against the Clearfield Falcons.
Her efforts guided the Lady Wildcats to an important region win over Clearfield, 48-42, keeping Woods Cross in the hunt for a playoff spot in Region 6.
Marissa Brunner scored nine points for the Wildcats, who broke a 13-13 first-quarter tie by holding the Falcons to nine second-quarter points.
Games this week
Davis and Viewmont will square off for the final time in the regular season at Viewmont High School.
Bountiful and Woods Cross will also face each other at Woods Cross High School.
Both games will tip off at 5:15 p.m.
