WOODS CROSS — The Woods Cross High School volleyball team was the only south Davis County high school to claim a win last week, having beaten East in a three-game sweep.
Bountiful, Davis and Viewmont took losses to Judge Memorial, Northridge and Weber, respectively.
Lady Wildcats sweep East 3-0
The Lady Wildcats, without the benefit of a preseason, have still put together a solid season opening.
The Wildcats have yet to drop a set this season.
Woods Cross had a solid defense throughout, not allowing more than 19 points in any of the three sets. The Wildcats won the opening two sets 25-13 and 25-6 before working for a 25-19 win in the third set.
Lexi Lewis led the way with nine kills in the short match.
Lady Braves lose 3-2 to Judge Memorial
The Lady Bulldogs collected their sixth straight victory last Thursday, beating Bountiful on the volleyball court in a tough 3-2 match.
Bountiful won the opening set 26-24 before dropping the next two sets. The Lady Braves tied the match at 2-2 after a 25-22 win in the fourth set, but lost the last set 15-10. The loss was the Braves’ first in Region 6 play.
Northridge downs Lady Darts, 3-0
The Davis High School Lady Darts continued to struggle with their season last Thursday, dropping their 10th game overall in a three-set sweep at the hands of Northridge.
The Lady Knights took the third set 25-20.
Lady Vikings lose to Weber, 3-1
After winning six of its first eight volleyball matches to open the season, the Viewmont High School volleyball team dropped its third straight Region 1 match last Thursday.
The loss came at the hands of Weber, which picked up its first region win 3-1.
Viewmont took the initial lead after earning a hard-fought 30-28 win in the first set. Viewmont’s next two sets were dropped with 25-19 scores, and the match ended after Weber won 25-14.
Games this week
In Region 1, Davis and Viewmont will hit the road to face Layton and Syracuse, respectively.
Region 6 will have the Lady Braves and Lady Wildcats at home, facing off against Cyprus and Kearns, respectively.
Region 1 matches will start at 3:30 p.m. Region 6 matches will start at 5:15 p.m.
