Weber Basin Water Conservancy District is building the pipeline. Construction is expected to begin by the middle of this month. A 36-inch culinary water pipeline will be installed in east Layton between Canyon View Drive and U.S. Highway 89 near Country Oaks Drive, a press release from the conservancy district said.
Most of the pipeline will be installed in city streets which will require temporary road closures and detours for through traffic in areas where work is underway.
The line will become part of the water district’s culinary water distribution system. It will service cities along the Highway 89 corridor in Davis County from its Davis North Water Treatment Plant in Farmington.
It’s being built to increase capacity and provide a redundant pipeline to supplement the existing pipeline, which is aging and in need of frequent repair, the release said.
