Who would have thought it was a bad idea to build houses on a former gravel pit? It reminds me of the Springhill Drive landslide just down the hill except this one is sliding faster. I doubt the developer would ever build his own home in this area, but it didn’t stop him from selling lots to other people.
I’m sorry for the loss that families have incurred (and for those who will lose their homes in the future, because there will be more). I also hope that insurance will cover their loss.
But I really wish the developer and/or the city officials would have to reimburse the homeowners. Have you ever seen a city official tell a developer “no”?
