Letters: Davis needs a district attorney like Sim Gill

I wish Sim Gill were in Davis County, because he is actually a county attorney of honor and trust! It was District Attorney Sim Gill who dropped more than 90 cases filed by allegedly corrupt officers of the West Valley Police drug unit, and also recently ruled the Daniel Willard shooting by West Valley Police Department Officer Cowley unjustified, and rightfully so.

As a criminal justice professional myself, I thought from the very day I heard the Danielle Willard story nine months ago that the facts would prove the shooting unjustifiable.  Willard was “allegedly” in a drug deal, not factually, and Cowley might have lied about getting hit by her car.

From what I know, Willard was fleeing, thus not causing serious bodily harm or death to Cowley or his partner С you can’t shoot someone lawfully for that, sorry!

I hope those few corrupt Officers in West Valley will be held criminally and civilly accountable for their perceived dishonesty and utter negligence. They are not exempt just because they are cops.

In conclusion, it is so funny to see how the police try to hold “offenders accountable” in therapy for thinking errors such as anger, grandiosity, blaming, lack of accountability, perpetration, excuse making, entitlement, rationalizing, emotional reasoning, justifying, victim stancing, minimizing, and power plays.

But when it’s a fellow cop “brother” committing the same thinking errors, the police think their badge will protect them (power playing and grandiosity), and Gill can see right through it. West Valley needs to fire these officers, and I hope Gill prosecutes these dirty cops by filing criminal charges on them.

Cory Green,
