Letters: Having a good job makes commute worthwhile

I read an article regarding a survey from the U.S. Census about how long daily commutes affect marriage and family life. When I first read it, my first thought was, “I wonder how not having a job takes a bigger toll on marriage and family life.”

In this day and time, when so many people do not have a good job, why did someone have the brilliant idea of making a study on how traveling on public transportation to go to a good-paying job takes too much time?

How about the men and women who drive their own cars to go to work at Hill AFB? A lot of these workers live in Cache Valley and gladly drive to work for a good-paying job! They know that their families are safe and have a happy life.

It takes years of school and training and hard work to find and keep a good-paying job, even if you have to go the extra miles to keep your family together and secure.
