Local candidates to debate on Tuesday, Oct. 23

KAYSVILLE — The League of Women Voters, the PTA and AARP are jointly sponsoring two Meet the Candidates nights in south Davis County.

The first will be Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at Washington Elementary School, 340 W. 650 South, Bountiful (enter from 200 West and 750 South). The event will be in a debate format. Competing candidates will answer between six and eight audience questions and will be allowed opening and closing statements, said state house candidate Lynn Anderson, D-Bountiful, District 19.

Candidates who have been invited include: state senate candidates Breck England and Todd Weiler, District 23; state house candidates Daniel Donahoe and Becky Edwards, District 20; Anderson and Jim Nielson; Davis Board of Education candidates Sandra Mountcastle and Barbara Smith, District 1; Davis Board of Education candidates James Clark and Larry Smith, District 2.

On Oct, 25, a second Meet the Candidates night will be held at Reading Elementary School, 360 W. 2020 North, Centerville.

Candidates who have been invited include:  state senate candidates Breck England and Todd Weiler, District 23; state house candidates Roger Barrus and Doug Macdonald, District 18; and Davis Board of Education candidates James Clark and Larry Smith, District 2.
