After Woods Cross, Bountiful and Davis all fell to Timpview, Mountain Crest and Lone Peak, respectively, the Wildcats, Braves and Darts are all eliminated from playoff contention.
At Woods Cross, the Wildcats were eliminated by the Timpview Thunderbirds 35-14 after allowing 21 first half points to fall behind 21-0. Jake Lloyd threw two of his game-high four touchdown passes in the first half, and Alton Brown and Sean Barton scored a pair of late touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Skyler Farnes threw a touchdown and an interception in the loss.
At Mountain Crest High School, the Mustangs dispatched the Bountiful Braves 48-0 behind five combined rushing touchdowns by Jamison Webb and Nick Taylor. Mountain Crest also returned two interceptions back for touchdowns against Bountiful.
At Lone Peak High School, the Knights’ special teams turned what could have been the game-tying kick into a game-winning block as they eliminated the Darts 27-26. After falling behind 24-13 after three quarters, Gage Cook threw a pair of touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to pull to within an extra point of tying the game. Lone Peak blocked the PAT to advance to the 5A semi-finals at Rice Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.
Cook’s touchdown passes went to Abel Porter and Colton Chronister, and Cook accounted for all four of Davis’ touchdowns in the game.
The 5A and 4A semi-finals will be played next Thursday and Friday at Rice Eccles Stadium. Game times start at 11 a.m. both days.
