NORTH SALT LAKE -- Davis County law enforcement personnel were able to help South Salt Lake Police arrest a man accused of running over his former girlfriend. On Friday, South Salt Lake Police learned that Henry Louis Jackson, accused of running over his ex-girlfriend and stabbing her son and dog, was headed to a home in North Salt Lake.

The stabbing occurred on Thursday afternoon in South Salt Lake. After the stabbing, Jackson fled, according to South Salt Lake Police, and a manhunt developed.

On Friday, residents of the home where Jackson was headed, allowed police to wait inside and outside the home.

When Jackson arrived, police believe he was close to overdosing on narcotics. Members of the Davis County Sheriff's Department and paramedics administered a drug to stop the overdose.

Jackson was then booked in the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of attempted homicide and animal cruelty, among others. The woman Jackson allegedly ran over was treated at an area hospital. Her son, 18, is in good condition. The dog also survived the attack.

In 1982 Jackson pleaded guilty to killing his ex-wife. He served 20 years and was released in 2003.
