CENTERVILLE – One of the biggest youth soccer tournaments in the state started Tuesday afternoon as the 29th annual Mayor’s Cup kicked off.

The tournament, featuring 380 teams this year, will run through Labor Day as fans will get a glimpse of the 5,000 players involved in the tournament.

The Mayor’s Cup is currently playing games in Bountiful, Centerville and Farmington cities.

The tournament, once again, is sponsored by Forza Futbol Club, based in Bountiful.

“Forza would like to thank the Davis School District and all the local cities who have supported us with the use of fields, and many other amenities,” said tournament director Chelta Brown in a press release sent to the Clipper. “We have games being played at 36 fields spread over 10 venues.”

Similar to last year’s tournament, the Mayor’s Cup has brought back the Goalie Wars and the Speed Kick, a pair of popular events.
