Our dear sweet mother, sister, friend, Meryl Dunford Schroeder, has been called home to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on December 23, 2013 due to a long illness. She was born August 27, 1927 to Alma Teller Dunford and Thelma Evelyn Tueller Dunford in Provo. She grew up in a loving famiy. She was so very much loved by her brothers and sisters: Norma, Rex, Helen, Jim, and Chaunce.
She married Allyn E. Schroeder November 4, 1952. Later divorced. Her children, Shirlynn (Sher), Steve (Lori), Bryan (Gina), and Brad (Char) have been blessed to call her their mother. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grand children. She had a special gift with children. Whenever we stopped by to visit she would tell us about each grandchild and what was happening in their life.
Mom worked for Litton Industries, Bountiful Clinic, and Eaton-Kenway. She loved to work outside in her yard and it was always immaculate. She was an awesome cook. We remember her delicious cinnamon rolls and salmon loaf.
She was a woman of great faith and was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She would always advise us to put our hand in our Heavenly Father’s hand and then we would be able to get through anything!!
She loved her family. Visiting Helen and Jim and Jean was always a special treat for her. She was proud of her Dunford heritage. We remember many trips to Bloomington, ID for the Dunford reunions. Years ago, we would camp at Bear Lake for the Tueller reunions. That always included raspberry shakes and locking the keys in the trunk of the car.
We loved our mother very much. She always kept a warm and welcoming home. Her home has been an anchor for our family throughout our lives. She was a shining example of love and sacrifice for us. She had a great sense of humor and helped us to laugh through life. We will miss her and look forward to the time when we are all together again.
Survived by sister Helen, brothers and sisters-in-law Jim and Jean Dunford and Chaunce and Ruth Dunford, her children, grandchildren and great-grand children. Preceded in death by parents, sister Norma Burbidge and her husband Chad, brothers Richard, Russell, and Rex and his wife Beverly, and brother-in-law Bruce Jeppsen.
We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to June Steely, Life Care Center and Affinity Hospice for their care of our mother at this challenging time of her life.
