CENTERVILLE — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 1131 S. Main, Centerville, is hosting an Afternoon of Music and Art on April 13, beginning at noon.
The celebration begins with a painting and sculpture show featuring more than a dozen Utah artists. The show will be free of charge and many artists will sell their pieces.
The show will run throughout the afternoon. Guitarist Ryan Miller providing musical accompaniment later in the day.К
A music concert will begin at 2 p.m., featuring the Riverton Jazz Band. The group features a Big Band and Dixieland style.КThe award-winning Woods Cross High School Chamber Choir will then sing.
Throughout the afternoon there will be plenty of activities to keep children occupied including games and face painting.
“We want to make a special gift to this community during the celebration of our 50th anniversary,” said the Rev. Lyn Briggs, vicar of the congregation.К “The people of Centerville and south Davis County have been incredibly supportive of us and this event is one way that we can say ‘thank you’.”
The event is just one of many hosted monthly and quarterly by the church for the community.
On the third Wednesday of every month, the church hosts a community dinner that is free and open to the public.К
The church also holds its quarterly Community Matters! forums, which address difficult problems affecting the residents of south Davis County.К
