SALT LAKE CITY — If you’re a shooter, hunter, or just plain shooting enthusiast, mark your calendars for this weekend.

Starting Saturday, Aug. 24, a trio of team members from the USA shooting team will be on hand as part of a “Breaking Clays” event happening at the Lee Kay Shooting Range in Salt Lake City.

The shooting range is located at 6000 West and 2100 South.

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources will host the event, and Saturday will be free of charge.

Saturday’s instruction is mostly for youth shooters.

That day, U.S. team members Brian Burrows, Amber English and Sean McLelland are set to appear and offer their points on shooting.

The trio will serve as volunteer instructors, and participants may practice shooting on the shotgun and rifle ranges. Firearm safety will also be discussed.

Firearms, ammunition and targets will be available for free. The event is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Sunday, the trio returns to host trap and skeet workshops and is open to everyone from beginning to expert shooters.

The sessions will run for three hours each, and participants must bring their own ammunition.

The cost of Sunday’s event is $150, not including the cost of clay targets.

The first session begins at 9 a.m., and each instructor is limited to five shooters per session.

There will be three sessions during Sunday’s event.

To register in Saturday’s event, email Jon Zinnell at jonz@muledeer.org or call 1-800-973-3940.

To register for Sunday, visit usayess.org or email McLelland at sean@usayess.org.
