LAYTON – Ogden police investigators say a person of interest wanted for questioning over a homicide was arrested in Layton overnight.
45-year-old Shawn Gerrald Boehme was taken into custody over the death of 43-year-old Elgie Ray Mills, Jr., whose body was discovered inside an Ogden storage shed on May 29.
According to a release from Ogden Police, Boehme “…admitted to shooting Elgie Mills Jr.”
The release also indicated that the suspect and victim were friends, and that they “…engaged in a verbal argument that escalated into a deadly encounter.”
According to investigators, Mills’ body had multiple gunshot wounds.
Mills had recently been released from the Davis County Jail after serving a sentence for violating a protection order.
Layton police officials said none of their officers were involved in the investigation, but that their department was advised of the arrest.
