WEST BOUNTIFUL — Jeremy Holm focused on the positive choices in life when he spoke with students at West Bountiful Elementary during Red Ribbon Week recently.

Holm, captain and founder of the Team Holm Bobsled Olympic Team, shared video clips from the last winter Olympics, answered questions and showed the medals he has won during his years of involvement in the sport.

He told the kids that those who are healthy are happier.

“Taking drugs for whatever reason will always be bad for you,” he said. He encouraged them to stay in school and work hard to learn the most they could. Those who do well in school will also do well in life, he said.

He also challenged kids to eat healthy and exercise daily. Watching television and playing video games are OK occasionally, he said, but not all of the time.

Finding what you’re good at, setting goals, aiming high and having a positive attitude were also part of his suggestions. Know you can accomplish whatever you desire to achieve, he said.

Holm is now a coach for a paraplegic bobsled team. Though bobsledding is not yet in the paralympics, he and his team are working to get it approved.
