One thing is for certain ... I can’t wait for the start of the Olympics.

It may be the only time a sports junkie such as myself can stay up late to watch some of our home-grown talent take the field in their respective sport while competing against some of the best the world has to offer, and I’m definitely all in for that.

Watching the Olympic Games is like watching all of the best major sports final games or set of games (the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Stanley Cup Finals, etc.) all at the same time. Watching the best compete against the best is supposed to be what the Olympics is about, right? I mean, where else but the Olympics can you find some of the best all-around athletes in the entire world?

The more fun thing to know about the Olympics is that, even though it takes four years between games (Summer and Winter show up two years apart, however), you still have to go through rigourous qualifications in order to get there.

For some, the qualifying starts almost as soon as the Olympics are over. Sports such as soccer spread out their matches over the course of years in order to get to the qualifying rounds, where teams such as USA, Brazil and others attempt to fight for a spot in the Olympiad. Other sports may do the same, but the overall goal is to say you’re an Olympian.
