BOUNTIFUL — Two Davis County nonprofit organizations were among charities receiving money from the Utah Petroleum Association at its annual golf classic.

Funds raised by the association were donated to the Bountiful Community Food Pantry and the Davis Education Foundation. Funds were also given to the United Way of Salt Lake, the Road Home shelter and the University of Utah Burn Center.

“It’s great to see the industry come together for the third year in a row to support some very dedicated and deserving organizations that do so much good in our community, said UPA President Lee Peacock. “Adding value to the community we are a part of is something we as an industry feel very strongly about and this charity golf event is just one way for us to do this.”

Nearly 300 members of the energy industry teed up at Mountain Dell Golf Course for the third annual Charity Golf Classic in September.  The event, sponsored by HollyFrontier, Tesoro, Chevron, Big West Oil and Silver Eagle Refining raised $25,000.

“As an industry that has been a part of the fabric of this community for more than a century, we are heavily invested and committed to the community we are a part of,” said Mike Wright, vice president and  manager of HollyFrontier’s Woods Cross Refinery. “We are proud of the philanthropic spirit and tradition this golf tournament generates and how it helps makes our community a great place to live.”
