WEST BOUNTIFUL — A man and woman are in custody on charges of burglary and theft after police say they stole at least six snowblowers and other items in West Bountiful and Bountiful.
Police were led to Riann Droesbeke Sevy, 24, and Joshua Ray Dyle, 30, both of West Bountiful, after one of the snowblowers they allegedly stole was found at a pawn shop. The pair was booked into the Davis County Jail.
Each is expected to be charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of possession of stolen property, one count of theft, one count of possession of heroin and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police recovered snowblowers and tools in thefts from residences in West Bountiful and Bountiful, as well as other items such as jewelry taken in residential burglaries, said West Bountiful Police Chief Todd Hixon.
In many cases, police have the items, but don't know to whom they belong, Hixon said.
"They just sit in the evidence room," he said.
Hixon advises people to lock their doors and garages, saying that too many people in South Davis have the false perception that everything is safe.
The chief said it's important for people who have been stolen from to call police and report the situation.
"It's amazing how many robberies are not reported," Hixon said.
