Police misconduct is not just a Salt Lake County problem

Editor,

Cops have a tough job and are human and are not perfect, but are traditionally held to a higher standard. There is so much police misconduct going on Davis County, and the County Attorney’s office hides it from the public and so does POST, quite often. I am on a public awareness campaign, because when it comes to police officers breaking the laws, the discipline against them should be worse rather then covered up and hidden and washed under the table.

What we are seeing with West Valley Police, and Trooper Lisa Steed are products of the cops going unethical and trying to hide things. The only difference is the Salt Lake County Attorney’s Office and Sim Gill, who do what’s right, and call cops out on crap. Here in Davis County I believe the County Attorney’s Office is in cahoots with the police and covers up bull crap.

The Police cover up for their own, and it is unethical and dishonest, and I learned better in my criminal justice ethical management courses. Sim Gill is an amazing ethical and honest man for what he is doing in dismissing 80 some odd cases now against West Valley PD, and the corruption that has come to light. Police corruption victimizes society, worse then an offender of any-type offends a victim. I am sharing all of this with you not because I am out to get the cops, cause I am really not.

Bottom line is, Senator Todd Weiler and all other good LDS legislative members in our state legislature need to toughen up on public policy and laws making the consequences of police misconduct, and the hiding of it more severe. It’s not fair to the public otherwise. All of this is the reason I elected to not go into police work and stayed in the private security industry.... God bless Sim Gill for all the time he is investing to be ethical on all cases involving West Valley Officer Cowley.

Most Sincerely,

Cory Greene,

Bountiful
