LAYTON – A man allegedly involved in a hit and run accident in Layton was taken into custody last Wednesday after being bitten by a police dog.
Collin Andrew Currie, 39, was booked into the Davis County Jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, evading police, driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to stop at the command of a law enforcement officer and leaving the scene of an accident, according to a Layton Police press release.
After reports of an accident involving a stolen vehicle, police tried to stop Currie, they said.
He led police on two chases until officers found the vehicle in an apartment complex in Clearfield, where they found the car unoccupied but running.
Then, officers saw Currie in a field, where he brandished a handgun and pointed it at his own head, police said.
Currie didn’t drop the gun when ordered, so the dog was deployed and bit him on the upper arm.
Currie was arrested and treated at an area hospital before being taken to jail. The handgun was a BB gun.
