That’s the philosophy that Gov. Gary Herbert espouses, even as the state is poised to be named again as the best place for business and careers by Forbes.
It means cities and counties working closely with the private sector to build businesses already here as well as attract new commerce, said Spencer Eccles, president of the Economic Development Corporation of Utah.
He spoke Tuesday to the Davis Unified Economic Development group at Hughes General Contractors, Inc., offices in North Salt Lake.
“It means allowing people to have their own destiny,” he told the group, which is made up of a broad group of business and government officials from across the county.
“Our vision statement is that Utah will lead the nation and be recognized as the best place for business,” Eccles said.
