BOUNTIFUL— Clipper readers will already be familiar with the magic Jenniffer Wardell can weave with words.

Now she’s taking her words to the next level with the publication of her first novel, “Fairy Godmothers, Inc.,” coming out this month.

It is a dream come true for Wardell, whose love of books, of words and of writing, put her on track early to be an author.

It took more than 10 years of writing, of rewriting and of then of submitting her manuscript to publishers before”Fairy Godmothers, Inc.” got where it is today.

“I’ve dreamed of this literally my whole life,” she said.

“Fairy Godmothers, Inc.,” tells a creative side-story of the mixed-up adventures of Cinderella’s fairy godmother.

“I love fairy tales,” said Wardell. “I read every different version that comes. The one character that no one ever paid any attention to was the fairy godmother. There were so many questions I had ... I’d never found a story that really gave me the detail I wanted, so I decided I’d have to answer those questions for myself.”

The book, she emphasizes, is “clean,” with no swearing or sex scenes, and will appeal to young and adult readers alike.

The public is invited to a book launch party on Saturday, April 27, from 1 to 4 p.m., at Barnes & Noble in Layton,  1780 Woodland Park Drive.

Book signings will follow, the first on Saturday, May 4 from 1 to 4 at the Sugarhouse Barnes & Noble, 1104 E. 2100 South in Salt Lake, and a second on Saturday, May 11, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Layton Barnes & Noble. You can also pre-order the book online here.

Wardell’s second book, a take-off on Beauty and the Beast, has been accepted by her publisher.

“The reason people write is because they love to read,” said Wardell. “There is joy in words and stories. All of those words and stories come in and they build up inside you and you want to start telling your own stories.”
