BOUNTIFUL — By collecting a little bit here and a little bit there over the year, realtors belonging to the group Davis County Agents were able to make large donations to three organizations in December.
Safe Harbor was presented a check for $1,700, Bountiful Food Pantry received $850 and the Davis High Marching Band was given $850 to help with its trip to the Tournament of Roses parade.
“As realtors, we are a generous group that gives back to the community in which we derive our business,” said Pam Sessions, president. “Many people don’t realize how community-conscious we really are.”
The realtors meet weekly before going on home tours, and each member donates $2 to help pay for costs affiliated with running the organization, according to Lucy Armstrong, past president.
At the end of the year, surplus funds are donated to various charities.
Also this year, members raised money to help with medical expenses of one of their associates.
“I was touched by their kindness,” said Armstrong. “I know of no other group of professionals who are as competitive and yet loyal to one another as this group is.”
Because of her own experience being homeless last year, Armstrong said she was especially grateful that the members of the organization were willing to support the women’s shelter (see accompanying story).
Davis County Agents includes both realtors and mortgage and title officers.
