BOUNTIFUL — After spending the past year rising from the ashes, Creative Arts Academy is almost ready to fly again.

To celebrate, the school will be holding an open house on May 4 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. to give residents a closer look at the new facility. After the building was nearly destroyed in a fire last year, the owners decided to rebuild and expand the space as a way to mark a step into the future for the academy.

“It was a tragedy,” said Jana Monson, who owns the studio with her husband Sean. “But our message to students was to work hard to overcome trials and rebuild.”

There will be a ribbon-cutting at 6 p.m. for the new building, which will be more than 20,000 square feet and include eight dedicated dance studios with sprung wood floors. There will also be a large gathering area for kids downstairs, as well as an educational area upstairs with spaces for students to do homework and a flat-screen television playing ballet and modern dance performances.
