BOUNTIFUL – Davis County residents can have an impact hundreds and even thousands of miles away.

The Rotary Foundation, the charitable arm of Rotary International, sponsors service projects all around the world. District Foundation Chair Kelly Atkinson recently spoke to the Bountiful Rotary about some of the ongoing projects and how people can help.

“Clubs all across this globe are engaged in changing the problems that exist in the world,” he said. “It’s our passion.”

The Rotary Foundation has several large-scale ongoing projects, including the eradication of polio. Other projects include literacy, water and sanitation, peace education centers, micro-financing business opportunities, and more.

The foundation also works on smaller projects with individual rotary clubs all across the world, including pediatric heart surgeries in India.

“Local clubs are the people on the front lines,” Atkinson said.

Davis County residents can donate funds by sending checks to the Bountiful Rotary Service Partners Foundation, P.O. Box 451, Bountiful Utah, 84011. Donations are tax deductible, and those donating can specify what individual project or type of project they want their money to go to. Donations can also be made online at rotary.org.
