LAYTON - An SUV crashed and rolled over on I-15 in Layton Monday evening, causing a massive traffic jam.

The silver Chevy SUV crashed and rolled over at the Church Street overpass while traveling north on I-15 at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Layton Fire and Utah Highway Patrol officials responded to the scene of the crash where the SUV came to rest on its side.

UHP Sgt. Matt Spillman later told the Clipper that a 37-year-old woman who was driving north on I-1 was trying to change lanes when she swerved to avoid another vehicle.

Spillman said the woman over-corrected and crashed the SUV into the right side barrier, causing the vehicle to flip over on its side.

According to Spillman, the woman had minor injuries and was transported to Davis Regional Hospital, along with a 10-year-old child who was not injured.

Spillman said the woman would be cited for improper lookout.

No other vehicle was involved in the crash.
