CLEARFIELD – Suicide prevention is one of several topics that will be addressed at two parent seminars scheduled at Clearfield High.

Bullying, substance abuse and Internet safety are also on the agenda for the sessions, which run from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28 and Tuesday, Feb. 4.

According to information provided by the district, 19 students died by suicide in 2011. Statewide, it is the second leading cause of death for youth ges 15 to 19.

“It’s important for us to talk about this topic, even though it is not a popular topic,” said Brad Christensen, director of student services for the district in a release. “Any adult who has an influence or connection to a child should be aware of suicide signs so we can all take care of our children.”

The seminars will take place in the auditorium at Clearfield High, 931 S. 1000 East.
