FARMINGTON — A Layton man was sentenced to jail time, probation and community service after pleading guilty to downloading child pornography.

David C. Skidmore, 28, was sentenced Wednesday, Sept. 4, to serve 60 days in jail, three years probation and 100 hours of community service. Adult Probation and Parole recommended that Skidmore serve six months in jail. The charges were two counts of distribution of third-degree felony distribution of pornography.

Skidmore was charged in February, 2012 with 12 counts of second-degree felony sexual exploitation of a minor following an investigation by the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

He told investigators he had downloaded files from the FrostWire file-sharing application, but did not intentionally download child pornography.
