BOUNTIFUL – The Bountiful Community Food Pantry (BCFP) will be the recipient of holiday donations from Smith’s customers at their South Davis locations in Bountiful and Farmington.
Through Dec. 29, each store will display six-foot “Bringing Hope to the Table for the Holidays” towers reminding shoppers that one in six people in Utah does not have access to enough food.
Customers are invited to add a donation of $5, $10 or $15 to their grocery purchases. All contributions will be converted to Smith’s gift cards and given to the BCFP for turkeys, hams, and staple food items like peanut butter and tuna, a press release from Smith’s said.
“We invite our generous customers to create meals where there otherwise may be none for our less fortunate neighbors,” said Marsha Gilford, Smith’s vice president of public affairs.
In 2011 Smith’s 49 Utah stores donated enough food from generous contributions to create one million meals for the hungry, most of whom are single women with children.
