He was a hard working farm boy, excelled at basketball and baseball for Gunnison High and was an honor student. At age 19, he served as a missionary for the LDS church in Calgary, Canada. On June 8, 1968, he married his high school sweetheart, Leslie Jensen, in the Manti, Utah Temple, who has remained his companion and confidant for the last 45 years. Stephen completed undergraduate schooling at Brigham Young University. He graduated from The University of Utah College of Medicine on June 8, 1974, and completed residency at The University of California Davis School of Medicine on June 30, 1977. Stephen’s greatest joy came from spending time with his sweetheart, his children and 22 grandchildren. He loved music, golf, books and to learn something new every day. He taught us how to work hard and to enjoy life. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, doctor, advisor and friend. He touched many lives through his service, thoughtful counsel and generosity. His laugh, which he shared often, was infectious. He is loved by many and will be missed.
