WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rep. Chris Stewart, who whose congressional district includes south Davis County, has been honored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

He received its annual Spirit of Enterprise Award in recognition of his support of pro-growth, pro-jobs policies during the first session of the 113th Congress, a press release from his office said.

“2013 was challenging, but Congressman Stewart worked to pass legislation and enact policies that will keep our country moving forward economically,” said U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue.

The award is given annually to members of congress based on their votes on what the U.S. Chamber considers critical legislation. Members who supported the chamber’s position on at least 70 percent of those votes qualify to receive the award.

This year’s scorecard showed Stewart with an 85 percent rating.

The chamber scored members on 13 key votes, including delaying enforcement of the employer mandate provision of the Affordable Care Act, approval of the Keystone XL pipeline, trade, transportation, legal reform and the budget.

Specific bills supported by Stewart include: H.R. 325, No Budget, No Pay Act; House Congressional Resolution 25, establishing the budget for fiscal year 2014 and setting forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2015-2023; H.R. 624, Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act; H.R. 3, Northern Route Approval Act.

Others include: H.4. 2267, Authority for Mandate Delay Act, H.R. 3080, Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2013, H.R. 2374, Retail Investor Protection Act; H.R. 2655, Lawsuit Abuse Reduction Act of 2013, H.R. 1900, Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act and H.R. 3309, Innovation Act.

The U.S. Chamber is the world’s largest business federal representing the interests of more than three million businesses of all sizes, sectors and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
