Why has everyone stopped writing posts on shutting down the massacre of all the bucks on the Antelope Island? Yes, an Island where they can’t go anywhere and it’s kind of like hunting Hogle Zoo.
Myself, I love hunting. But this is different. The biologist claim that it is good but they need to remember that there has not been a hunt on the island for more than thirty years.
They are just fine, getting bigger every year and the coyotes do a great job of keeping the animals in check. They claim that the money goes back to funding Antelope Island, but I travel to the island quite often and not yet have I see any improvements.
Residents from surrounding cities and tourists travel to the Island to see some of the biggest deer in the state. If this keeps up, the population of bucks will top out at 180 to 190.
What about the antler hunt? The shed hunters look forward to picking up a once-in-a-lifetime set of antlers, but soon that will be gone and where is the state going to get its funds?
