BOUNTIFUL — Students have one thing in common: they need to study and do their homework. Some students don’t study as effectively as others, while others study and do their homework very efficiently.

Students need to get in good studying habits early to get ready for tests such as the ACT and SAT. If they start good studying habits early, they will have no problem with such tests. Some ways that students can be more efficient in their homework is to use the time in class the teacher assigns for homework. Don’t just sit and make small talk with the person next to you. Do your work in class, and you will be more prepared.

An effective study habit that some students use at home includes creating flash cards to memorize vocabulary words and mathematics formulas. Rebecca Fowles is an extraordinary student at BHS that utilizes extremely good study habits. Fowles can ace any test that is given to her, even in classes such as AP American History.

Her secret: “I usually read through the chapter that is assigned to us, and then I write a one sentence summary of each paragraph in my own words. I also don’t listen to any distracting music while doing my homework. I just listen to music without vocals that is relaxing, and that helps me stay focused.”
