CLEARFIELD - Futura Industry CEO Susan Johnson is this year’s Davis Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Athena award winner. 

She will be honored at a luncheon to be held Thursday, Feb. 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the Davis Conference Center in Layton. 

Johnson’s Futura Industries is a leading manufacturer of custom aluminum extrusions, and is located in Clearfield. 

“Since coming to Futura she has been the catalyst for Futura’s reputation of outstanding customer service, loyal customers and strong culture,” said Jim Smith, chamber president.

“She inspires a culture of interdependence, trust and uncompromising integrity among all employees,” he said.

For the past 12 years, Futura has been identified as one of the top 10 family friendly employers in Utah. 

The company has received many other honors, including Manufacturer of the year, “Best Company to Work For,” SHARP safety award and the Davis Chamber Employer of the Year and Business of the Year. 

Johnson was recently featured in Forbes for Women in Business and received an award from the Women Tech Council for Leadership Excellence.

She has been recognized as one of the most powerful women in business by the Women’s Business Center, and one of the top 10 business leaders and top five corporate leaders by Utah Business Magazine. 

Johnson serves on the board of trustees for Utah State  University and Zions First National Bank. She is chair of the board of trustees for the Northern Utah academy of Math, Engineering and Science and is chair of the board for the Employers Council. 

In addition, she was named the Outstanding Engineering Alumnus of Cal Poly in 2008, where she received her undergraduate  degree in engineering. She also attended University of California Irvine an Santa Clara University.
